Scholarships
Application Info

College of Forest Resource Scholarship applications are accepted from January to April 1 of each year. Freshmen should complete the Mississippi State University Scholarship Resume online through their Admission application on the MSU web page. For more information, contact the CFR Office of Academic Affairs at 662.325.2624.

Students must submit a CFR Scholarship Application prior to April 1 to be considered for a departmental scholarship. Renewal of scholarships are based on Fall grade reports each year. Renewal of a scholarship is competitive. Applications are available from the CFR Office of Student Services, Box 9680, Mississippi State, Mississippi 39762.

Boyd Burrow Greater Jackson Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation Endowed Scholarship.

Established by the Greater Jackson Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in memory of Boyd Burrow, a long-time member and passionate turkey hunter, this scholarship is for sophomores, juniors, or seniors enrolled in the College of Forest Resources. Students must demonstrate acceptable academic achievement and show promise of an outstanding career in Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries or Forest Products.

Bynum L. Meeks Endowed Scholarship

Established in memory of Bynum L. Meeks. Candidates must be full time juniors or seniors in the Forest Management Option within the Department of Forestry or one of the following options within the Department of Forest Products: Wood Industry Management or Wood Materials Science. Students must have completed the summer field session and be a resident from one of the following counties: Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Madison, Pike, Walthall, Warren, and Wilkinson.

Established by Charles and Carolyn Dismukes; awarded to select students in the College of Forest Resources. Ambassadors assist with student recruiting into the College of Forest Resources.

Clyde Patrick Wade Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Established in memory of conservationist Clyde Patrick "Pat" Wade by his family. Priority is given to Forestry or Wildlife and Fisheries students who are American citizens and are in their sophomore, junior or senior year of study. Selection is based on academic achievement, character, leadership, and work ethic. Preference will be given to students who have epilepsy or who are affected by other chronic medical conditions.

Colonel Kenneth (K.D.) Johnson and Catherine B. Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund

Funded by Colonel Kenneth (K.D.) Johnson and Catherine B. Johnson, this scholarship is awarded to a student in the Forestry major who has demonstrated acceptable academic achievement and shows promise of an outstanding career in the forestry area. Applicants with financial need will be considered over other qualified students.

Columbia Forest Products Annual Scholarship

Funded by Columbia Forest Products of Trumann, Arkansas. This scholarship is awarded to Forest Products students with an interest in lumber, composite, or related areas with a GPA of 2.8 or higher. Summer internship is possible.

Dale H. Arner Memorial Scholarship in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries

Established by friends, former students, and professional associates in honor of Dr. Arner, Professor Emeritus. This scholarship supports wildlife and fisheries students who demonstrate high academic achievement, are active in student organizations, research, and have demonstrated leadership ability.

Davis and Ann Mortensen Endowed Scholarship in Forest Resources

Established in December of 1999 by a generous contribution from Mr. and Mrs. Davis K. Mortensen. Candidates must have a composite ACT score of 26, have records of academic achievement, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Delta Pride Catfish Scholarship

Established by Delta Pride Catfish Processors, Inc.; awarded to a junior or senior student in the College of Forest Resources on the basis of interest in a career in the catfish industry, academic record, and need.

Delta Wildlife Annual Scholarship

Funded by Delta Wildlife, a conservation organization striving to improve wildlife habitat and the environment. Students must be permanent residents of Mississippi and reside in one of the following counties: Bolivar, Carroll, Coahoma, Desoto, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Panola, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tunica, Warren, Washington or Yazoo. Primary consideration will be give to Wildlife and Fisheries students and secondary consideration to Forestry students with a Wildlife Management option. Scholarship is awarded on basis of scholastic achievement, leadership, career specific activities and participation in professional clubs and chapters.

Established by a generous contribution from Joel T. Callahan, M.D., an outdoor enthusiast and wildlife conservationist. Students must be enrolled as a Wildlife and Fisheries Science major. Scholarship will be awarded on basis of academic achievement, character and leadership ability.

Originally established as an annual scholarship by the company founder, James W. (Jim) Craig, this award is given to students who show promise of success in the forestry profession. Candidates must be full time students in their junior or senior year of study, and demonstrate academic achievement.

In memory of Leo W. Seal, this scholarship is given to a student residing in Hancock, Harrison, Pearl or Stone Counties, Mississippi. Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers' Association (MLMA) John L. Mabry Memorial Annual Scholarships

Mississippi Lumber Manufacturer's Association (MLMA) provides two scholarships in memory of John L. Mabry. These scholarships are awarded to one Forestry Management major and one Forest Products major with an emphasis on the forest products industry each year. Candidates must be full time students, have demonstrated academic achievement, be of good moral character, and have demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.

Scenic Homes-Dr. Richard M. Kaminski Scholarship in Waterfowl and Wetlands Conservation

Scenic Homes/Kaminski Scholars must be enrolled fulltime in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in wildlife and fisheries science from the College of Forest Resources. An MSU grade-point average of 3.0 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) and involvement in professional and leadership organizations in their field of study also are required. More information

Sharp Academic Merit Scholarship

Established through an endowment by the Kate Sharp family of Tishomingo County. Entering freshmen with an exceptional ACT or SAT score and an exceptional high school academic record are invited to apply for these scholarships. Awards are up to $12,000 for a four year program of study. The scholarships are limited to students enrolled in the Department of Forestry.

South Mississippi Forest Products Annual Scholarship

Established by the company owners, Skip and Julie McCollough of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Candidates for the South Mississippi Forest Products Annual Scholarship must be in their junior or senior year, demonstrate acceptable academic achievement, and show promise of an outstanding career in Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries, or Forest Products. Applicants who demonstrate financial need will be considered over other qualified students though their grade point average may be below other applicants.
