Think you want to be a biologist? Or you want that extra help for your Canon Envirothon, FFA Environmental Science, or 4-H judging team? This is the camp for you. A 5-day, 4-night residential camp open to youth ages 14-18 that allows you a sneak-peak into college courses such as mammalogy, geographic information systems, forest ecology, soils and plants, wildlife pathology, and more. $300 all-inclusive fee (pricing is reduced for siblings living in the same household; first sibling = $300, $225 for each additional sibling). Financial assistance may be granted for qualified youth upon completion of the financial assistance application.
These day camps (8:30 AM-4:30 PM), conducted in collaboration with Starkville School District, are for students who will be in 6th-8th grade in the 2013/2014 school year. Participants will learn about the state's natural world, experience hands-on science, and explore the outdoors. Registration is available online or through completion of the downloadable application. The $20 non-refundable fee includes lunch and activity costs and is due at the time of registration. Students will also be required to submit a short (100-word minimum), handwritten essay later in the registration process; instructions will follow upon receipt of registration application. Hunter Education certification by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks requires both written and instructor-led (face to face) coursework. Campers who so desire may complete all aspects of Hunter Education certification during June 23-27, 2013, Outdoor Recreation and Science Edition only.
Residential camps include food, lodging, and on-site transportation (transportation to/from Starkville, MS excluded).
A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is required at the time of registration for residential camps. Full payment must be made by 10 days prior to the first day of camp, or your registration is cancelled and deposit is lost.
There is a 25% discount per registration for siblings after the first registration, i.e., first registration is $300, each additional sibling is $225. This discount applies only to siblings/stepsiblings.
