About The Project

This website is an ongoing project by students and faculty from the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, within the College of Forest Resources to provide information on the biology and ecology of mammals that occur in Mississippi. These accounts were written by undergraduate students as a course assignment for Mammalogy classes, and generally follow the format of Mammalian Species. Many thanks to Clint Smith, Vanna McMillan, and Gail Moraru who served as contributing editors. Included are the nine orders and 22 families found in Mississippi along with detailed life histories for many species.
