Student Scholarships


Application Information

Students may apply for university, college and departmental scholarships through one application. You can find the scholarship application once you logon to myState. Under the banner tab, select Financial Aid and Scholarships. The application is listed as Submit/Revise General Scholarship Application.

Freshmen-only scholarships: Priority date for application is December 1.

All other students: Scholarship application close date is March 1.

New freshmen and transfer students who need information should contact Cory Bailey. All other students should contact Lanna Miller, Office of Student Services at 662.325.9376.


Bynum L. Meeks Endowed Scholarship

Established in memory of Bynum L. Meeks. Candidates must be full time juniors or seniors in the Forest Management Option within the Department of Forestry or one of the following options within the Department of Forest Products: Wood Industry Management or Wood Materials Science. Students must have completed the summer field session and be a resident from one of the following counties: Adams, Amite, Claiborne, Copiah, Franklin, Hinds, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Madison, Pike, Walthall, Warren, and Wilkinson.

Cox Industries, Inc., "Mike Barnes" Annual Graduate Scholarship

Funded by Cox Industries Inc. This scholarship is awarded to graduate students pursuing a degree in forest products, forestry, land management or a closely allied field with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of good moral character, strong work ethic , and showing promise of outstanding career in land management, timber conversion, wood preservation, industrial-environmental issues, or similar field. Cox Industries, Inc., "Mike Barnes" Annual Undergraduate Scholarship

Funded by Cox Industries, Inc. This scholarship is awarded to junior or seniors majoring in Forest Products, Forestry, Land Management or a closely allied field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Ideal candidates are those who are pursuing a career in land management, timber conversion, wood preservation, industrial-environmental issues or a similar field. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of good moral character and strong work ethic.

Davis and Ann Mortensen Endowed Scholarship in Forest Resources

Established in December of 1999 by a generous contribution from Mr. and Mrs. Davis K. Mortensen. Candidates must have a composite ACT score of 26, have records of academic achievement, and demonstrated leadership skills.

Ham Sanders Scholarship

Sponsored by Mrs. Ham Sanders in honor of her husband. The award is based on need, character, and academic achievement or any combination of these. Preference is given to students studying Wood Science and Technology.

Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers' Association (MLMA) John L. Mabry Memorial Annual Scholarships

Mississippi Lumber Manufacturer's Association (MLMA) provides two scholarships in memory of John L. Mabry. These scholarships are awarded to one Forestry Management major and one Forest Products major with an emphasis on the forest products industry each year. Candidates must be full time students, have demonstrated academic achievement, be of good moral character, and have demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.

Southern Pressure Treaters' Association Scholarship

Funded by the Southern Pressure Treaters' Association. This scholarship is awarded to graduate students with a strong interest in the discipline, research, and/or profession of wood protection or some aspect of it. (GRADUATE)

Winston Plywood & Veneer LLC Endowed Scholarship

Funded by the Winston Plywood & Veneer LLC. This scholarship is awarded to graduate students with a 3.0 minimum GPA who have a strong interest in the research, production, discipline, or profession of wood plywood composites or some aspect of it. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of leadership ability, membership in the Forest Products Society or the Society of Wood Science and Technology, and financial need. (GRADUATE)
