Aquaculture Research and Outreach

Aquaculture is the culture of aquatic organisms such as fish, crustaceans, shellfish, algae and plants. Aquaculture may involve production culture for efficient and sustainable production of food, recreational culture for producing fishes to be stocked for public fisheries, conservation culture for replenishing diminishing species and maintaining genetic diversity, or subsistence culture for providing important protein sources in developing nations. Mississippi State is involved in all of these fields, and is a global leader in aquaculture research, extension, and education. See how you can get involved!
