Many of the classrooms, laboratories, and offices of the College of Forest Resources are located in Thompson Hall. Completed in 1993, Thompson Hall is an 84,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility which houses classrooms, laboratories, and offices.
Laboratory-office buildings and other special-purpose buildings with a combined floor space of over 90,000 square feet comprise the Forest Products Laboratory's physical plant. These buildings house the analytical and testing equipment, pilot plants, and support facilities required for a comprehensive research program involving wood and wood products.
A 35,500 square foot furniture research facility to support a comprehensive furniture research, testing, and technical assistance program.
This laboratory provides quality research and insights into the human aspects of wildlife, fisheries, and marine-related issues, resource users, and other stakeholder groups to help natural resources agencies and organizations.

The John W. Starr Memorial RV Park is located adjacent to the Charles E. Burkhardt Pavilion and Site, home of the Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show. For reservations, phone 662-338-9036.
Onsite reservations are not encouraged due to limited number of sites. Please call ahead to ensure space availability.

Facilities include a 3,125 square foot outdoor aviary, a 28,000 square foot Captive Carnivore Unit, the 11 acre Johnie R. Dawkins Memorial Deer Unit, and an Aquaculture Research Facility consisting of over 90 ponds.
South Farm aquaculture research facility, is an on-campus aquaculture facility that provides opportunities to faculty, graduate students and undergraduates to conduct aquaculture related research here at Mississippi State University. South Farm has close collaborative ties with the USDA-APHIS wildlife services unit as well as the Hill County Initiative through the USDA-ARS.

This laboratory addresses the growing need for spatial analyses of ecosystems and landscapes. Students have opportunities to not only use current GIS software, but also advanced software and hardware for digital graphics capture and analysis.
The Measurements and Spatial Technologies Laboratory serves as a focal point for spatial-related activities throughout the Forestry Department by utilizing the latest research tools and data sources. The MSTL's current configuration consists of both Unix workstations, networked PC's, and Unix Servers running the latest versions of multiple GIS/image processing software packages.
Within a half-hour drive of the Mississippi State University campus is over 90,000 acres of forest lands, fields, and wetlands. These areas are the Tombigbee National Forest and the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. The 1,600-acre Sharp Forest in Tishomingo County is also available for research, demonstration, and education.
Owned by Mississippi State University and managed by the Forest and Wildlife Research Center, the forest occupies 8,244 acres and is administered as an outdoor laboratory for teaching, research, and demonstration.
