Date set for landowner workshop in Belzoni (8/15/13)

Landowners who want to branch out and earn extra income can attend a Natural Resource Enterprises Business Workshop Aug. 15.

Hosted by Mississippi State University, the workshop offers attendees the opportunity to learn different ways to make more money from their land. Topics include recreational businesses, managing wildlife such as waterfowl and wild hogs, marketing, cost-share programs and reducing liability.

"The workshops are designed to help landowners and farmers find new and innovative ways to earn extra income," said Daryl Jones, MSU associate Extension professor and Natural Resource Enterprises program director. "This workshop will give landowners and farmers the knowledge needed to begin their natural resources-based enterprises on their own properties, while giving them the information and contacts to manage their property for wildlife and other resources."

The workshop will be at the Belzoni Multi-Purpose Center, located at 417 Silver City Road in Belzoni. Registration is $25 per person and includes a USB flash drive with a collection of reference materials, lunch and breaks.
