The College of Forest Resources is saddened by the passing of retired forestry professor Robert Parker. Dr. Parker passed Monday, May 28. Please keep Dr. Parker's family in your thoughts and prayers. The obituary is below.

Mr. Robert Clark "Bob" Parker, 69, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Bohn officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Parker was a retired Professor Emeritus from the Department of Forestry in the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Starkville.

He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Auburn University and his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen W. Parker of Starkville; sons, Robert Parker (Jackie) of Atlanta, Ga., Chris Parker of Huntsville, Ala. and Daniel Parker (Jen) of Tampa, Fla.; brother, Charles D. Parker of Hood River, Ore.; sister, Peggy Sherriff of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Ashleigh Parker and Joshua Parker; and great-grandchild, Syler Parker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Merlin Parker and Gladys Faye Jones Parker.
